In
January 2010, after serving two years as
Chair of the Civil Service Commission for
the City of Montebello, Carlos Morales Illingworth
was appointed by State Superintendent Jack
O’Connell to a three-year term on the Montebello
Unified School District Personnel Commission,
which oversees the selection, classification,
retention, and promotion of classified employees
for the third largest school district in
Los Angeles County.
Carlos grew up in Montebello and obtained
a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications
from Cal State L.A., where he served two
years as student body president and was
commencement speaker of his graduating class.
Carlos has counseled community college
students in Los Angeles, consulted K-12
school districts across California and worked
for two members of the state legislature.
He is currently the Manager of Public Affairs
and Government Relations for Vons, where
he is responsible for the company’s media,
government and community relations programs
in Southern California and Southern Nevada.
Carlos is a 2010 Leadership L.A. Fellow
with the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce
and is President-Elect of the Cal State
L.A. Alumni Association. He is a mentor
at Schurr High School, serves on the Montebello
College Bound Today Program Advisory Committee
and is a member of the Rotary Club of Montebello
and the Montebello-Commerce YMCA Board of
Managers.
Carlos resides in Montebello with his
wife Corrine, a Corporate Environmental
Affairs Representative with The Walt Disney
Company.
