Carlos
Morales Illingworth has called Montebello
home for the past twenty years. As the son
of two public school teachers, it was only
natural that Carlos would serve as an advocate
for education. Carlos has counseled students
in Los Angeles and consulted school districts
across California. As a Counselor’s Assistant
at Los Angeles City College, he provided
academic, personal and career counseling
to non-traditional students affected by
educational and economic barriers. As an
Education Consultant, Carlos designed advocacy
and technology solutions for nearly 65%
of California’s K- 12 school districts.
Carlos
has over a decade of community service.
He is a former Youth Leader at Our Lady
of Miraculous Medal Church and is currently
Chair of the Civil Service Commission for
the City of Montebello. In addition to working
on the Montebello College Bound Program
Advisory Committee, he also serves as a
member of the Montebello Rotary Club, Montebello-Commerce
YMCA Board of Managers, and CSULA Alumni
Association Board of Directors. He is the
founder and former president of the Montebello
Democratic Club and is active in the Democratic
Party. Carlos is a Delegate to the California
Democratic Party and Los Angeles County
Democratic Party, where he serves as Co-Chair
of the Organizational Committee.
Carlos
is currently the Manager of Public Affairs
and Government Relations for Vons, where
he is responsible for the company’s government,
media and community relations programs in
southern California and southern Nevada.
Upon graduating from CSULA in 2004, Carlos
interned with the Los Angeles County Democratic
Party (LACDP) and California’s Lieutenant
Governor (then State Insurance Commissioner)
John Garamendi, utilizing his skills in
Communications and Community Affairs. Carlos
continued his passion for public service
as a staff member to Senator Ron Calderon
and Assemblyman Charles Calderon, where
he coordinated the Annual 58th Assembly
District College Fair, Tax Rebate Program
for Senior Citizens and was the point of
contact for issues surrounding Education,
Public Safety, Local Government and Small
Business.
Carlos
earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications
with an emphasis in Public Relations from
Cal State L.A. As Student Body President,
Carlos represented 22,000 students and managed
a $1.2 million dollar budget. In recognition
of his community and public service, Carlos
was selected to participate in the Panetta
Institute for Public Policy Leadership Seminar.
He is a graduate of the Materials Science
Technology Program at Don Bosco Tech High
School, where he served as a member of the
distinguished Varsity Lettermen Society
for football and baseball.
Carlos resides in the La Merced community
of Montebello with his wife Corrine, an
Environmental Affairs Representative for
The Walt Disney Company.
